Wayward Wanderings On The Wolds
Yesterday I added photos to the original post. Today I take them away. I never really liked this series of photos. Just before we we started to take these someone ambled along the, what we thought was a deserted, path through the wild of the wolds and stopped to chat and continue along the way with us. My husband (then boyfriend) and I were still very much getting used to taking photos together (my husband had never really even heard of style/outfit blogging and was very much along the lines of 'You want me to take photos of your clothes, wha..?' There was often a lot of awkwardness between us, my husband being used to directing his camera however it pleased him, usually at wide landscape vistas and not always enjoying the process when I had particular shots in mind, and the added pressure of someone watching led to us rushing the whole process and both feeling really uncomfortable. I see my uncomfortable laugh and tense posture. It took my husband years of photographing outfits before he started to become comfortable doing so while people were around, and he still struggles with it sometimes, which is one of the reasons we sought out deserted places, the other being that we harbour a love for the deserted places, the places that feel newly discovered or completely forgotten. It took me some time, too, to overcome the awkwardness of people being around, and depending on the situation sometimes it's still there, mostly I just don't care. Mostly people just look mildy curious and I wonder what they think we're doing in the sometimes odd places we choose to take photos. Only once can I remember being heckled in any way. It still sticks with me. Still makes my cheeks burn. Despite the years. And I'm still unsure whether it was meant as insult or compliment. Have you ever seen people taking photos in odd settings and wondered what they were doing? Have you stopped to ask? Smiled and continued on your way? Pretended you didn't notice them?
