You Are My Sun
Back in 2012 when these photos were taken, I wrote about how wearing gold jewellery was a new style direction for me, having always been a silver lover. How gold seemed to be slowly creeping into my jewellery drawer and my heart, albeit tarnished, aged gold not bright, clean gold, which at the time I described as garish. How given time perhaps I would even come round to that. That time has come. I find myself drawn more and more to gold. Most of my jewellery, even 8 years on, is still silver, partly because that's what I already own and because my love of silver has never lessened but from my collections I find I am picking out the gold pieces more and more frequently. As all my facial piercings are silver there is an element of mixing and matching both silver and gold, but I don't really see it. Rather, when I dress I don't take my piercing jewellery into account when choosing other jewellery to wear, as they are permanent features of my face and as such I barely notice them, like I don't notice my facial moles, freckles or old scars. Having said that, I've recently been looking into replacing most of my facial jewellery due to age/tarnishing and again find I am drawn more and more to the gold jewellery. I wouldn't want to replace all the silver with gold, I love silver for every day, but it might be nice to have an occasional day as something really different. I'm not going to be investing any time soon, with this many piercings it gets pretty expensive pretty fast when buying jewellery, but it will be something I look into next year after the end of my no-buy year this year. If I've learnt anything from my journey towards a more minimalist lifestyle it's that delaying those wants let's me figure out if they are something I truly want and will gain value from owning or if they are passing lusts.
